Horseshoe Bay - stroll
along the waterfront or watch ferries sail from the terminal. Rent a
boat or charter a private salmon fishing or sightseeing trip from
Sewell's Landing. Whytecliff Marine park, where scuba divers search
for treasures in the sea, is a short distance away. Finish your trip
with dinner at one of the many restaurants along the water. |
Deep Cove - Considered the "hidden secret" of
Vancouver, the quaint village of Deep Cove features a fine selection
of restaurants, a cultural centre comprising an art gallery and live
theatre as well as select and unique gift shops and the most
relaxing scenery you'll find anywhere. The shores of the Cove are
the gateway to B.C.'s newest Provincial Park in Indian Arm - a 14
mile pristine fjiord. Rent a canoe or kayak for a few hours and
enjoy the tranquility of this unique area with its sheltered waters.
Motor boats and private fishing charters are also available. |

Canyon - One of the natural beauties to be explored, Lynn
Canyon Park has 617 acres of pristine coastal temperate rain forest.
There is a spectacular canyon and suspension bridge as well as miles
of hiking trails for all levels. An ecology centre brings our
history to life. Easy to access from all North Shore locations.

Seymour Demonstration Forest - Tucked in the lower part of
an ancient glacier-carved valley this forest is an excellent example
of a typical coastal forest. Over 100 species of animals and birds
call this home. Cycle or stroll around Rice Lake or hike across to
the Lynn Canyon headquarters. Select trails were rated by Fitness
and Speedskating Times as 3rd best in North America for inline
skating or blading. |

Mountain Biking

Cycling - Pedal down the peak on a
mountain bike tour. The tour takes you on an exploration of Grouse
Mountain's winding scenic bike trails. The scenery is spectacular
and time is given to photo shoots, rests and a bite to eat. Levels
of experience are taken into consideration. There are many mountain
bike rental centres in and around Vancouver North Shore. |
Hiking - The 47km Baden Powell trail runs the length of the
North Shore Mountains. Many parts are not strenuous and give
panoramic views of the area. Grouse Mountain Hiking trails are
accessible via the Grouse Mountain SkyRide. The Seymour
Demonstration Forest is the perfect area for short or long hikes. A
one hour hike takes you around Rice Lake. A quick swim refreshes you
on a hot day. The trail can connect to the Lynn Valley area if you
wish to include the headwaters of the park. |

Lighthouse Park - Close to Horseshoe
Bay (Vancouver Island ferry terminal). The only area untouched by
logging, see the six largest trees in Canada and hike under a vast
canopy of trees. The waters teem with sea life. Swimming is

Golfing at its best - Northlands Golf
Centre is North Vancouver's newest and only public golf course,
rated No. 1 in Canada in 1998. Huge granite outcroppings burst
through lush green fairways, mountain peaks as a backdrop, all make
Northlands a memorable golf experience "where nature is your
playing partner". Gleneagles, West Vancouver is a 9 hole public
course with an ocean and mountain view. Find par 3 courses at
Ambleside and Murdo Fraser and for a truly magnificent
ocean/mountain golfing experience, drive thirty minutes or so to the
Furry Creak Golf and Country Club, a 6,001 yard, 18-hole course.

Boating - Boat, SeaDoo, kayak and canoe rentals are
available in Deep Cove. Indian Arm is a spectacular fjord with
countless destinations for glorious day and overnight trips. The
sheltered waters of Burrard inlet make this a very safe sport for
beginners and experienced boaters. Boats can also be rented at
Horseshoe Bay for cruising and fishing. |

life cycle through aquariums, a fish ladder and rearing ponds.

Skiing - The beckoning lights of
Grouse Mountain
are perhaps Vancouver's most recognizable landmark when entering
the region by night. Grouse, Cypress Bowl, and Mount Seymour offer
affordable skiing, spectacular views of the city, Vancouver Island
and the San Juan Islands. |
